Suno Music vs Flow Music

Let's compare two AI music generators: Suno vs. Google Flow Music.

Ten prompts. Let's see which AI tool makes the best music1:

Suno vs Flow

  1. Dreamy indie pop song about stargazing on a rooftop with friends.
    Suno 1 🥇 ] [ Suno 2 ] [ Flow 1 ] [ Flow 2 ]

and the winner is... Suno 1 beats Suno 2 by a slim margin. Google Flow's takes are no good. Flow also mispronounces some of its own lyrics, like the word "cartography" and the name "Simon" (which sounds like "Simmon" in the song).
  2. High-energy EDM track about winning a video game tournament.
    Suno 1 ] [ Suno 2 ] [ Flow 1 ] [ Flow 2 🥇 ]

and the winner is... Flow 2 is my favorite. The Suno songs fit the prompt more closely, but I like the more abstract lyrics and sound of the Google Flow song.
  3. Playful jazz song about robots opening a neighborhood bakery specializing in matcha kouign-amann.
    Suno 1 ] [ Suno 2 ] [ Flow 1 ] [ Flow 2 ]

and the winner is... Suno take #1. None of the four takes pronounced kouign-amann properly. Google Flow songs included too much conversational singing for my taste.
  4. Cinematic orchestral piece about explorers discovering a floating city in the clouds.
    Suno 1 ] [ Suno 2 ] [ Flow 1 ] [ Flow 2 ]

    and the winner is... ...
  5. Cheerful jingle about growing a backyard vegetable garden.
    Suno 1 🥇 ] [ Suno 2 ] [ Flow 1 ] [ Flow 2 ]

and the winner is... Suno 1. The Google Flow songs used predictable rhyming. The most interesting one was rhyming the noun "handle" with the verb "handle"!
  6. Anthemic k-pop song about summer barbeques.
    Suno 1 ] [ Suno 2 🥇 ] [ Flow 1 ] [ Flow 2 ]

and the winner is... Suno 2. This one was close as they both sounded like K-pop songs to me. Both songs were exclusively in English. A true K-pop song would mix Korean and English lyrics, with konglish thrown in. This was a battle between Suno's "BTS" and Google's "LE SSERAFIM" but I thought Google Flow's chorus was weak.
  7. Fun latin pop song about learning how to code.
    Suno 1 ] [ Suno 2 ] [ Flow 1 ] [ Flow 2 ]

    and the winner is... ...
  8. Upbeat synth-pop song about a mischievous orange cat.
    Suno 1 ] [ Suno 2 ] [ Flow 1 ] [ Flow 2 ]

    and the winner is... ...
  9. Epic folk-rock song about climbing mountains before sunrise.
    Suno 1 ] [ Suno 2 ] [ Flow 1 ] [ Flow 2 ]

    and the winner is... ...
  10. Catchy funk song about the world's best grilled cheese sandwich.
    Suno 1 ] [ Suno 2 ] [ Flow 1 ] [ Flow 2 ]

    and the winner is... ...

Which AI music generator won?

For me, the winner by a mile is Suno. Google Flow's lyrics are less interesting, and the rhymes and rhythms are too predictable. Suno's music has better production, closer to songs I hear on the radio.

  1. Best is my subjective evaluation on what I'd prefer to hear on the radio. Songs were generated on paid plans (Suno Pro & Google Flow Plus). Each tool generates two takes for each prompt.
